Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) leaps 26 places in the QS Asia University Rankings (QS AUR) 2018 and is now ranked Top 101.
Over 400 institutions from 17 countries in the Asia region were evaluated by QS.
With this achievement, UTP continues to maintain its position as the top private university in Malaysia.
This achievement also makes UTP as one of the top 1% universities out of approximately 11,900 universities in the Asia region.
UTP is ranked 1st in Malaysia and 18th in the region for Papers per Faculty. The university also ranked 2nd in the country for the International Faculty Ratio. UTP has also remarkably improved in the score of Outbound and Inbound Exchange Students by 39.3% and 23.6% respectively. In general, UTP has improved its scoring in several domains – Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper and Faculty Student Ratio by 9.9%, 1.0% and 0.6% correspondingly.
“I am proud to announce our latest achievement in QS AUR 2018. The quality of everyone’s continuous dedication and commitment in ensuring excellence through various initiatives like teaching and learning activities, students’ vibrant experience, quality research output and other university operations, are well reflected in this university ranking,” said UTP Vice Chancellor, Datuk Ir (Dr) Abdul Rahim Hashim.
“There has been an increasing trend over the past 5 years in AUR ranking. This gives an indication of our effort to continuously pursue improvements in many aspects in this university. I strongly believe that with a positive mindset, UTP can achieve its target to be the Top 50 Asia University by 2020,” he said.
