Introduction

The 3-Day Mini MBA is an intensive, hands-on and practical course for practitioners who plan to understand more of business management within a short period. It is designed specifically for working professionals who do not possess the luxury of time to attend a full MBA program. The course is a combination of theory and practice for the advantage of those who may not have strong backgrounds in the areas of strategy, marketing and financial risk management for career advancement. The course uses contemporary ideas for the enhancement of job functions and understanding of up-to-date management framework. The course’s delivery will be conducted in the forms of discussion, workshop and case study for greater application and appreciation. The benefits of this Mini-MBA course are multifold: to understand how a company operates, uses of strategic thinking, plans and implements strategies, negotiates, influences and gets buy-in from stakeholders, uses financial data to make better and informed decisions, turns strategic goals into plans and actions as well as performs and delivers results. During the course, you will network and learn from a diverse group of peers from different entities and industries, develop a personal action plan and strategies and learn and apply real-world business scenarios.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able:
  1. Understand the strategic management process in a competitive business environment.
  2. Pursue in-depth exploration on advanced marketing knowledge and practices by exploring new ideas for innovation competitive enhancement.
  3. Develop analytical skills for business risk management by efficient use of financial management tools.
 

Trainers

Dr. Satirenjit has been in the academic, research & consultancy field since 1992. Prior to joining UTP she was with Universiti Utara Malaysia. Dr. Johl has also served the corporate sector, namely IBM, Boustead Holdings and Malaysian Professional Centre. She obtained her Doctorate in Philosophy (Business) from University of Nottingham, U.K and Master’s in Human Resource Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia. She has conducted several training programs for multinational companies i.e. IBM, Boustead Holdings and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in the areas of Quality, Entrepreneurship and Human Resource. She has received the Hariram Jayaran special award and Gold award in the 23rd International Invention Innovation & Technology Exhibition. Dr. Ting holds a PhD in Marketing. He has done his MSc in Economics from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. He has over 22 years of experiences in academia and consulting firm.  Based on his vast research experience, he has secured various national and international research grants such as Sumitomo Foundation (Japan), Murata Science Foundation (Japan), Ministry of Higher Education and Tatasan UTP. He is currently the President of the American Association of Inside Sales Professionals, (AA-ISP) Malaysia.   Dr. Amjad has obtained his Ph.D in Management from UTP, MS in Marketing and an MBA in Marketing from Pakistan. He has published his work in various reputable international marketing and management journals. He has conducted several training programs both nationally and internationally in the areas of value co-creation, delivering service excellence, managing experience for brand building, structural equation modeling and measurement scales design among others. His research interests include value co-creation, transformative service research and service marketing.   Dr. Lai holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance) and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. He obtained his PhD (in Enterprise Risk Management) from the University of Malaya, the oldest university in Malaysia. Prior to joining education line, AP Dr. Lai has worked in two stock broking companies in Malaysia. He held an Investment Advisor’s Representative License issued by the Malaysian Securities Commission in 1997. He has provided extensive training courses in Malaysia and in Turkmenistan on the themes of Risk-Based Project Investment, Analysis of Financial and Economic Activity of Enterprise, Economic Basis of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
