Introduction

Introduction to Reservoir Simulation course is specifically intended for young aspiring petroleum engineers. The objectives of this course are to equip the participants with a robust understanding of the fundamental concepts and practice of reservoir simulation. The course covers the theory of reservoir simulation, and various phases of reservoir simulation from designing study objectives, data preparation and analysis, model construction, history matching and prediction. Participants will also be acquainted with classical reservoir engineering analysis such as relative permeability, capillary pressure, and production performance analysis which are part of history matching approaches.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the fundamental concepts of reservoir simulation
  • Learn the process of building a reservoir simulation model
  • Gain an appreciation of reservoir data, its usage and sources

Trainers

    Assoc. Prof. Jang Hyun Lee is a Schlumber NExT instructor. He has more that 20 years experience. He was an Advisor, Reservoir Engineering, Cairn India, India for 2 years, Reservoir Engineering Domain Champion, SIS, Schlumberger, Japan, Qatar and Abu Dhabi, U.A.E, SK Energy and Korea Petroleum Association He is experts in the area of simulation, well testing, field development/ economic analysi, and evaluation of hydraulic fractured wells/ reservoirs.   Dr. Mohammed Abdalla Ayoub Mohammed was an assistant professor at the University of Khartoum–Faculty of Engineering & Architecture-Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (Sudan). Dr Ayoub holds his PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, M.sc degree in Petroleum Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM-Saudi Arabia) in 2004 and his BSc in Mining Engineering from University of Khartoum, Sudan. His interest areas are chemical enhanced oil recovery, modelling and simulation, and application of artificial intelligence in modelling numerous hard-to-solve Petroleum Engineering problems, especially in multiphase flow in pipes, PVT properties and Production Engineering. Mr Ezzam A Razak is A Petroleum Engineer professional with 18 years total experience in oil & gas industry, 13 years of which was specialized in reservoir engineering. His technical experience in subsurface planning and development covered both oil and gas fields as well as both green and brown fields. After gaining project management experience earlier in his career, he then focused more on reservoir engineering and simulation. Throughout his career he has also published and presented technical papers at various SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) events sharing his findings and experience in subsurface study.
