Panelist 1

Wan Shamilah Wan Muhammad Saidi

Chief Digital Officer,


Wan Shamilah holds a degree in Economics and Accounting from University of Bristol, United Kingdom. She is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a member of the Malaysian

Institute of Accountants. She joined PETRONAS in October 1993 as a Finance Executive in PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd. From 1995 to 1998, she worked for Morison Stoneham, a firm of Chartered Accountants in England. She rejoined PETRONAS in 1998 as a Manager in Group Finance of PETRONAS. Between 2000 and 2004, she was the Manager in Business Development Unit of PETRONAS where she was primarily responsible for the mergers and acquisition activities of PETRONAS. In the ensuing years, she was the General Manager of Finance of PETRONAS Gas Berhad, a listed subsidiary of PETRONAS and General Manager of Finance of Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS. At these positions, she was responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of the respective companies. From April 2009

to July 2010, she was the Senior General Manager, Crude Oil Group of PETRONAS where she was responsible for the global marketing and trading of crude oil for PETRONAS. She then joined PETRONAS Chemicals Group in August 2010 as Chief Financial Officer and was involved the successful listing of PETRONAS Chemicals Group in Nov 2010. She assumed her current position in March 2017. Wan Shamilah is currently the Chief Digital Officer at PETRONAS, responsible for orchestrating digital transformation across the organisation.

Arne Gast

Arne is the leader of McKinsey’s Organization Practice across Asia-Pacific. His work over the last 20 years has solely focused on ”organizing for the future” : strategic work force planning, designing operating models, helping culture change, or leadership development at scale – always linked to performance transformation. He is one of the co-leaders of McKinsey’s Workforce of the Future tribe, and founded Aberkyn – McKinsey’ special entity for change facilitation.

Arne is based in the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since joining McKinsey & Company in 1999, he has alternated working years between Europe (Amsterdam) and South-East Asia (Kuala Lumpur) and Middle East. His Asian experience includes over six years of work in Malaysia other ASEAN Countries, India, China and Australia.

As one of McKinsey’s functional leaders, Arne has rich experience across industries. His experience includes oil/gas, telecom, banking, insurance, real-estate and electricity. He worked with multinationals, government-linked companies, family owned enterprises as well as private equity firms.

Before McKinsey

Arne holds a MsC in Organizational Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. His education, research and writing focuses on organizational science and change management. He has contributed to the publication of Blue Ocean Strategy, Beyond Performance, Mobilizing Minds, and ReOrg, and many McKinsey Quarterly articles, and is a sought after top team facilitator and presenter.

Juan Carlos G. Bonilla

Head of Digital Strategy

Juan Carlos G. Bonilla is a business advisor and strategy consultant with 23+ years of international, multi-industry experience. He currently leads the strategy and digital transformation practice in Schlumberger, primarily engaging with C-suite and senior executives to create pragmatic approaches to digitalization, develop innovative business models, define value expectations, apply cross-industry innovation and insights, as well as structure complex delivery programs.  His career began in California working with entrepreneurs, startups and venture capital firms during the ‘dot com’ boom of the 1990’s, continuing today by guiding operators to become leaders in the drive for digital value within the oil & gas industry.

Mr. Bonilla’s career roles include management, consultancy, entrepreneurship, and program delivery.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California Los Angeles (1991) as well as a Doctorate in Law (Juris Doctor) from the University of Southern California School of Law (1994).  He is a frequent public speaker, patent holder, and published author with numerous industry papers and articles.

Nuraslina Zainal Abidin

Nuraslina Zainal Abidin is known for her strategic visionary and transformational leadership in business change, growth and performance improvement. She brings with her 15 years of experience in successful transformation and optimization of business performance for major organizations and conglomerates alike. In 2003, she founded GENAXIS with its core operation centered on assisting customers through the certification process on quality management, conforming to global accepted standards set by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) or the implementation of the Six Sigma, to improve efficiency and increase profits.


In 2018, she acquired 60% stake in Innovation Associates Consulting Sdn Bhd, and subsequently appointed as CEO.  Her technical competencies include smart government blueprint, trade and logistics performance improvement on strategic international trade, shared service knowledge and solutions for accrual accounting in public sector, government service delivery transformation, halal trade platform innovations, process optimizations and re-engineering, digital transformation, and mega-scale project management.

She was recently named the Business Trendsetter by Foundation of Malaysian Entrepreneur and is slated to receive the SME & Entrepreneur Business Award 2018.



Anwarudin Saidu Mohamed

Anwarudin is currently the Chief Technology Officer/ Executive Director of Reservoir Link Solutions Sdn Bhd spearheading the business growth strategies in key areas in aspiration of building resilient corporation that can provide global solutions in upstream O&G market. Previously he served various organization including Petronas, Baker Hughes Inc and Deleum Berhad. He previous role in Deleum Berhad was the Head of R&D and Technical Centre. He had been an active member of SPE since 2004 ever since his graduation from PETRONAS university of Technology. He is currently the SPE KL section Vice Chair and the recipient of the 2014 Asia Pacific Region Outstanding Young Member Award and 2018 Regional Service Award recipient. He also the current Exco member of Malaysia Oil and Gas Service Council.

Throughout 14 years of his experience in Oil and Gas industry he held various positions and functions in the area off Fluids and its application in the sector primarily in Hydrocarbon Production and Operations. His experience span across, operations, application engineering, sales and marketing, corporate strategy, business support and product development. He had published various SPE papers covering mainly oilfield chemistry and its applications in respect of chemically enhanced production and best practice in remediation of formation damage. He also reviewed and sat as review committee for more than 500 papers on various SPE conferences. He holds B.sc (Hons) Mechanical with minor in petroleum from UTP and Msc in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London.
